The natural extension of Marine Insurance
Among Cabinet Bessé’s specialities comes coverage of risks faced by harbour authorities, i.e. Property Damage, Loss of Use, Third Party Liability, Pollution, Shipping Fleets…, etc.
Even though such coverage is essentially placed with the Non-Marine branches of insurance companies, most of the risks to which harbour authorities are exposed come under the Marine sector, which was Cabinet Bessé’s original branch. Therefore, it was only natural for Cabinet Bessé to be present in this sector of activity, which represents the place of arrival or departure of goods and the vessels on board which they are carried.
A specific approach
The nature of the risks to which authorities which handle ports are exposed varies depending on whether harbour authorities are independent or managed by Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The legal structure surrounding such management is therefore important.
